Snowdrops,
Marshmallows and Chinese Noodles |
In North
America, Valentine’s Day means romantic cards, love
letters, chocolates,
lingerie,
or other erotic
gifts. But Chinese noodles?! Read on for some unique Valentine’s
Day traditions worldwide.
- In
Denmark, men and women send each other pressed white flowers
called snowdrops. Men also send Valentines in the form of
rhyming verse. Instead of signing their names, however,
they sign the messages with dots – one for each letter
of their names.
- In
Japan, women present candy to men – and not just their
significant others. Many Japanese women give chocolates,
known as giri-choco (or, obligation chocolate!)
to all their male friends and office mates. Men
return the favour by presenting their wives or girlfriends
with white chocolate or marshmallows. In recent years, however,
many Japanese men have begun bypassing the sweets and giving
their gals lingerie.
Can’t say we blame them!
- In
addition to Valentine’s Day and White Day, Koreans
also celebrate Black Day. On April 14, men who didn’t
receive gifts on Valentine’s Day gather together to
eat Chinese noodles in black sauce.
- In
Taiwan, Valentine’s Day is so nice, they celebrate
twice – once on February 14 and again on July 7 of
the lunar calendar. On both days, men buy roses for the
women they love – and the flower count is significant.
One red rose means “my only love”, 11 roses
mean “you’re my favourite”. Ninety-nine
roses signify “forever” and 108 roses mean “marry
me.”

OK,
ladies, so it takes a little effort to lace yourself
into that bodacious bustier. But Lord knows it’s
sexier than your usual cow-print flannel!
Dressing
up for bed can make a girl feel more feminine, more
sensual and more seductive. Not waif-thin? No problem.
Pull on a silky
chemise and presto, strategic-yet-sexy camouflage.
Guys,
we know you are – say it with us – visual
creatures. Who wouldn’t enjoy seeing
their partner in luscious lingerie,
knowing it’s being worn especially for them? And
watching (or helping) your partner undress increases
your anticipation about what’s going to happen
when that bustier finally comes off, right?
Shy
about telling your lover what you want between the sheets?
Say it with lingerie.
A ladylike white negligee whispers “Make love
to me,” while a scarlet see-through teddy screams,
“Take me now, cowboy!” |

That’s
Why It’s Called a Private Life!
In
a recent issue of the Honey Buzz, we asked readers what
concerned them most about shopping online for grown-up
toys, books and games. A full quarter of those who responded
cited discreet packaging as their key concern. |
At Honey
Gifts, we take your privacy as seriously as you do. To protect
against nosy neighbours and curious kiddies, all Honey Online
purchases are shipped in plain but elegant wrapping, with
our wholesale name, Lull Giftware, provided as the return
address. So shop away, and keep your private life, well, private!
